Carlos Montes

Engineer/Producer

Carlos A. Montes is a Los Angeles based engineer, producer, educator, and entrepreneur. He has worked with a variety of artist in and around Los Angeles, including San Diego based band The Infants and Los Angeles based band Beatmo. Along with his business partner Cesar Mejia, he is co-owner of The Shelter Studios in Boyle Heights, CA. Besides helping run The Shelter Studios, Carlos is also a high school teacher and coordinator in Hollywood, CA. He currently teaches courses in beginning computers and beginning guitar techniques.

Carlos was born in Lynwood, CA and was raised in Tijuana, Baja California before he moved to Compton. Throughout his life, Carlos has always been surrounded by music. His father was a working musician prior to starting a family and continues to play to this day. It was his father's influence that guided him towards pursuing a degree in audio engineering, which Carlos received in 1999 from California State University, Dominguez Hills. He has since gone on to receive his Master’s degree in Education.

Carlos constantly strives to work with artists who have something important to say. He enjoys working closely with up-and-coming songwriter's in order to provide creative guidance and support.
